ATLANTA, GA- Atlanta Police have announced an arrest into a theft case from earlier this summer that gained national headlines. In early July, officers responded to an area on Krog Street in the Edgewood area of the city in reference to a theft from a vehicle. It was later determined that two suitcases were stolen from the vehicle and they contained unreleased tracks for music superstar Beyonce who was in Atlanta as part of her Cowboy Carter tour.
On July 8, 2025, Atlanta police officers assigned to the Zone 6 patrol area responded to 99 Krog Street NE in regards to a theft from a motor vehicle. Preliminary investigation reveals that Jeep Wagoneer was parked inside of a parking deck located at 44 Krog Street and was broken into. When officers met with the owner and an occupant of the vehicle they learned that two suitcases had been stolen from the vehicle. Police have identified the vehicle as being a rental vehicle that was occupied by Christopher Grant, a choreographer for Beyonce and Diandre Blue, who is listed as a back up dancer for the music superstar.
According to an incident report released by Atlanta police, during the theft the suspect made off with several items to include; five jump drives that contained watermarked music, unreleased music, footage plans for past and future, and set lists for Beyonce. The suspect also made off with a MacBook Pro, Apple Max Pro Headphones, two suitcases, Apple AirPods, Tom Ford Sunglasses, a Tumi Bookbag, shoes, documents, and high value items.
Evidence obtained from the scene was forward to investigators with the Atlanta Police Department’s Larceny & Auto Unit. The unit worked the case and was able to obtain an arrest warrant for their suspect, who police have identified as Kelvin Lanier Evans.
Police say Evans was taken into custody by police in Hapeville, Georgia on August 26, 2025, on an unrelated parole violation charge. He was charged on September 16, 2025, on one count of entering an automobile or other motor vehicle in relation to the Krog Street theft investigation. Jail records indicate he is being held on a $20,000 bond on that charge at the Fulton County Jail.
A search of jail records at the Fulton County Jail shows nearly 30 arrests spanning back to January of 2002 involving Evans on various charges with various agencies across Fulton County. A search of Georgia Department of Correction records show numerous convictions in Fulton County, DeKalb County, and Forsyth County. GDC records show he was released on parole in January of 2025.
The Atlanta Police Department continues an active investigation into the case and ask anyone with any information to reach out to police. Police have not been able to recover any of the items stolen in the theft at this time.
