CANTON, GA- The Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services has announced the arrest of a Canton, GA man in connection to a fire that broke out at a commercial building in Canton on Christmas day 2025. After weeks of investigation by various agencies officials have announced the arrest.
According to a press release from the Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services, investigators have arrested Blake Louis Bishop, of Canton in connection to the Christmas day blaze.
Cherokee County fire crews responded to reports of a structure fire a business on Marietta Road in Canton on December 25, 2025, at 3:15 p.m. When fire crews arrived on the scene they discovered smoke coming from the roof of the building and an active fire inside of the building.
Fire crews quickly began to battle the blaze and search the building for any possible victims or trapped persons. Fire officials confirm no one was located in the building and that no injuries were reported.
Investigators with the Cherokee County Fire Department worked to investigate the fire with assistance from the Canton Police Department and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Intelligence Division. Through the investigative efforts of the numerous agencies, officials were able to identify a suspect as Blake Louis Bishop.
Bishop was taken in to custody and has been charged with 1 count of felony arson, 1st degree, 1 count of felony criminal damage to property, 2nd degree, 1 misdemeanor count of loitering and prowling. Bishop was booked into the Cherokee County Jail.
