KENNESAW, GA- Investigators have arrested a 46-year-old Kennesaw man in connection to an incident inside of a popular Kennesaw breakfast restaurant in which shots were fired and minor injuries were sustained.
According to Kennesaw Police on, Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 8:41 a.m., officers were called to the Martin’s Restaurant located at 2005 Cobb Parkway NW in reference to a shooting. The first officer arrived on the scene within one minute, at 8:42 a.m. The officer immediately began to secure the scene and interview witnesses.
Police learned that two employees at the restaurant had been involved in an verbal altercation inside of the restaurant. One of the employees contacted her husband identified as 46-year-old Jeffery Alan Thomas, of Kennesaw and advised him of the dispute. Police say Thomas arrived to the restaurant shortly after the call from his wife and confronted another employee.
A physical altercation ensued, in which Thomas is said to have fired multiple rounds inside of the business. Shortly afterwards he fled the scene with his wife, according to details released by police. Officers with the Cobb County Police Department were able to locate and detain Thomas and his wife at their residence. The two were transported to the Kennesaw Police Department and questioned. During the course of questioning investigators discovered the wife had sustained a minor gunshot wound. She declined medical treatment. Police say Thomas and the other employee involved in the altercation had sustained minor injuries, but were not related to gunfire.
Following the interview the wife was released, but Jeffery Thomas was arrested and charged with five counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, 2nd degree criminal damage to property, and 3rd degree cruelty to children. Thomas was transported to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and is being held without bond.
“This was a dangerous situation that could have had a much worse outcome,” said Kennesaw Police Chief Bill Westenberger. “Our officers and partners with Cobb County Police Department acted quickly to ensure the suspect was taken into custody and the community remained safe.”
