HINESVILLE, GA– The Georgia State Patrol is investigating an early Sunday morning head on crash in Southeast Georgia that claimed the life of a woman and left another person injured.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident took place on the morning of Sunday, January 25, 2026, around 6:24 a.m. near the intersection of US Highway 84 and Georgia State Route 38 in Liberty County, Georgia. The location is near Liberty County High School near the city of Hinesville.
Initial reports indicate a 2016 Honda Civic had been reported to law enforcement to be traveling on the wrong side of the road. A Be On The Lookout (BOLO) alert was issued for the vehicle. Police suspect the driver of the Honda Civic was raveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of travel, when they struck a 2025 Genesis GV70 head-on.
The driver of the Honda Civic has been identified as 20-year-old Kortney Jackson of Allenhurst, Georgia. She was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center in nearby Hinesville for treatment, but succumb to her injuries. The driver of the Genesis was transported to a hospital in Savannah for treatment. The driver has been reported to be alert and conscious.
The accident remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
