TAYLOR COUNTY, GA- An investigation is underway in Taylor County, after a person’s body was recovered from the Flint River in Taylor County near the Crawford County line on Friday afternoon. Limited details have been released as the investigation is still ongoing.
According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, deputies with the agency received a call around 2 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026 in reference to a possible drowning that had taken place near the River Bridge at Hwy 128 near the county line of Taylor County and Crawford County.
First responders from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, Butler Fire Rescue, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and Georgia Department of Natural Resources raced to the scene to assist with recovering the deceased individual.
Officials were able to recover a body, which the Taylor County Coroner’s Office has identified as an adult male. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time as officials are still working to identify the victim.
The investigation is on going and anyone with any information should contact the GBI or Taylor County Sheriff’s Office.
