ATHENS, GA- A 33-year-old man is behind bars after a viral video surfaced online that showed him striking a female last week outside of a popular Athens bar. The man was dressed in attire that matched that of a World War II error Nazi Gestapo officer.
Police have arrested and charged 33-year-old Kenneth Leland Morgan, of Athens and charged him with aggravated assault and simple battery. The arrest was made early Friday morning and stems from an incident outside of a bar in Athens, Georgia.
Preliminary reports indicate Morgan was attempting to enter Cutter’s Pub, a popular bar in Athens. In a video that surfaced online he is seen being dressed in a Nazi style uniform and attempting to enter the Athens bar. Several patrons at the door can be seen pushing him away from the door and onto a nearby sidewalk. He is surrounded by people yelling and cursing at him on a nearby sidewalk.
As the video continues Morgan is seen striking a woman across the face with an empty beer pitcher. The woman that was struck by Morgan in the video has been confirmed to be a student at the nearby University of Georgia. Morgan is not a student at the University.
Athens-Clarke County Police arrived on the scene shortly after the incident and took Morgan into custody. He was booked into the Clarke County Jail and charged with aggravated assault and simple battery.
The case remains under investigation. Morgan was never granted access to Cutter’s Pub, while wearing the Nazi uniform, the business has confirmed.
