COLUMBUS, GA- Police in west central Georgia have announced the arrest of five people including three juveniles in connection to a deadly shooting earlier this month that claimed the life of an 18-year old girl. The investigation continues as five people are now jailed in connection to the death.
On Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11 p.m., officers from the Columbus Police Department were dispatched to the 1000 block of Bay Avenue near the Columbus Riverwalk in reference to a person shot. When responding officers arrived they located an 18-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was transported to a Columbus area hospital where she later died of her injuries. The Muscogee County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 18-year-old Kalielah Davis. Davis sustained a gunshot injury while inside of a vehicle. There were other occupants in the vehicle when the shooting took place, but no additional injuries were reported.
Investigators with the Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit assumed lead in the investigation. Over the past weeks since the shootings investigators have rounded up five suspects in connection to the murder of Davis.
Columbus Police have announced the arrest of the following individuals in connection to the case:
- Lafabien Anderson, Age 16. Anderson was taken into custody on September 11, 2025. He is being held with no bond.
- Kacin Grant, Age 21. Grant was arrested on September 17, 2025. He faces charges of murder, five counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Grant is in custody in Alabama and awaiting extradition to Columbus.
- Ty’Ron Cherry, Age 15. Cherry was arrested on September 17, 2025, and is facing charges of murder, five counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm under the age of 18.
- Lamarcus Williams, Age 18. Williams was arrested on September 17, 2025, and has been charged with murder, five counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
- Noah Toney, age 15, Toney was arrested on September 17, 2025, and has been charged with murder, five counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm under the age of 18.
The Columbus Police Department has announced the arrests stem from a joint effort by various agencies including; CPD’s Violent Crimes Unit, CPD Fugitive Unit, the Real Time Crime Center, and the Phenix City, Alabama Police Department.
