Woman Injured In DeKalb County Shooting Thursday Afternoon

DEKALB COUNTY, GA- A woman is in the hospital fighting for her life after she was shot near a busy DeKalb County intersection on Thursday afternoon. Police have nabbed the suspected shooter and recovered a weapon possibly connected to the case.

DeKalb County police were called to an area near Memorial Drive and Covington Highway in DeKalb County on Thursday around 5 p.m. in reference to a shooting. Police arrived and located a female victim believed to be in her mid 40s suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medical personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. The victim remains hospitalized and listed in critical condition. Police have not identified the victim at this time.

Police were able to nab a person suspected of the shooting a short time later at Marta transit station in Atlanta. During the apprehension of the suspect police recovered the suspect weapon used in the shooting. Police have not identified the suspect at this time but the suspect is a female.

A motive has not been released at this time but witnesses say there was an altercation in a parking lot in the 4000 block of Memorial Drive prior to the shooting.

The case remains under investigation by DeKalb County Police.
