CHAMBERS COUNTY, AL- A 44-year-old Macon man is believed to have died of a heart attack in east central Alabama earlier this month. Officials say the man died of a heart attack while attempting to dispose of the body of a 47-year-old woman he had recently murdered.
On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at around 12:20 p.m. central time, deputies with the Chambers County, Alabama Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 1000 block of County Road 86 in reference to a truck that was found left on a road near a wooded area. The truck was found running and with a door opened.
Deputies arrived to the dirt road and searched the nearby area where they found the bodies of 47-year-old Jessica Folds of Lanett, Alabama and 44-year-old Daniel Ladel Robbins of Macon, Georgia. The bodies of the two victims were transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
The results of that autopsy indicated that Folds had died from strangulation. Investigators believe that Robbins had strangled Folds and was attempting to dispose of her body in the wooded area when he suffered a heart attack and subsequently passed away. Autopsy results do indicate Robbins cause of death was a heart attack.
Chambers County is located just across the state line and borders Troup County. Investigators note that the truck was found running on County Road 86 with its tailgate down and drag marks were found in the dirt leading from the truck to where the bodies were found.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency continues to investigate the case with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office. District Attorney Mike Segrest confirms Folds and Robins were known to each other and were dating at the time of the deaths.
