WINDER, GA- A suspect is in custody after police suspect he made a bomb threat at a large retail store in the City of Winder, Georgia on Thursday morning. Investigators utilized several technology tools to bring the suspect into custody shortly after the threat was made.
According to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, on the morning of Thursday, June 26, 2026, around 7:30 a.m. a person entered the Walmart store located at 440 Atlanta Highway in Winder, GA. Deputies say the individual made a threat involving a bomb before leaving the store.
Deputies raced to the store and deployed K9 units to search the store for bombs or other explosive devices. A search was performed through the store with the use of the K9’s who determined there was no explosives present in the store. After the search the store reopened to customers.
Deputies began a investigation into the suspect and were able to identify a vehicle leaving the parking lot that was linked to the suspect. Law enforcement was able to use Flock cameras to locate the vehicle and allowing deputies to bring the suspect into custody. The suspect has not been identified or the charges they face in connection to the incident that disrupted operations at the Walmart store briefly.
