ATLANTA, GA- A 33-year-old man was fatally wounded in a shooting in Northwest Atlanta on Sunday afternoon. Police are now working to gather evidence and bring the person or persons responsible for the shooting to justice.
Atlanta police report officers were called to the 2800 block of Mango Circle in Atlanta on Sunday, June 7, 2026, around 1:30 p.m. in reference to a person that had been shot. Patrol officers assigned to Atlanta’s Zone 1 patrol area quickly responded to the scene and located a 33-year-male that had sustained gunshots.
Grady EMS arrived on the scene and rendered aid and lifesaving measures before transporting the victim to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. Shortly after arrival the victim was pronounced deceased by hospital personnel. The victim in the shooting has been identified as Derrick Morgan, age 33. Morgan had suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the incident.
Atlanta homicide investigators responded to the scene and have assumed lead in the investigation. At this time there has been no motive or suspect information released. Witnesses say Morgan was walking in the area shortly before the gunfire erupted.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
