Bibb County investigators are investigating an incident that has left one person dead and another in the hospital on Friday night.
MACON, GA- The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has opened a death investigation after one person was found fatally shot on Friday night and a second victim is in critical condition in the same incident. The investigation is now ongoing in central Georgia.
Preliminary information released by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 8:50 p.m. a call came into Macon-Bibb County Emergency 911 Center in reference to a shooting incident that occurred in the 400 block of Hardwick Drive.
Deputies responded to the scene which showed a partially overturned SUV on top of a brick mailbox. Responding deputies also located an unidentified male victim unresponsive from an apparent gunshot wound. The Bibb County Coroner’s Office arrived on the scene and the victim was pronounced deceased by Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley.
A second shooting victim was located, and has been identified as a 19-year-old male. That victim was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment and has been listed in critical condition according to the sheriff’s office.
The incident is still early in the investigation case and ongoing. More details are expected to be released soon.
