SAVANNAH, GA- A 44-year-old man is behind bars in Savannah and facing charges connected to a shooting last week that left on person injured. Savannah police were able to use technology as a tool to quickly identify the suspect in the shooting and bring him to justice.
According to the Savannah Police Department on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at around 6:20 a.m. officers with SPD responded reports of a shooting in the 6000 block of Damascus Road. Officers responded to the scene and located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot related injuries.
Medical aid was rendered to the victim on the scene and he was transported to Memorial Health University Hospital in Savannah a short time later, where he underwent treatment of his injuries.
When officers arrived on the scene the suspected shooter had already fled the scene. However, Savannah police were able to use Flock Cameras and locate the suspect. He was taken into custody by officers with the Chatham County Police Department.
Police have identified the suspect as 44-year-old Brian Williams. He has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, cruelty to children, and false imprisonment. He has been booked into a local detention facility.
