ATLANTA, GA- Police in Georgia’s Capital City have announced the arrest of a 19-year-old male in connection to a deadly shooting that took place on Tuesday morning. The shooting claimed the life of a 19-year-old male near downtown Atlanta. Investigators moved quickly to make the arrest and now have charged the suspect with a long list of charges related to the incident.
Atlanta Police responded to reports of a person shot at 11:13 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in the area of 130 Luckie Street SW.
When responding officer arrived to the scene they were able to locate a 19-year-old male that had sustained a gunshot wound. First responders searched for signs of life, but the victim had succumb to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
Officer that responded to the scene were able to locate a person of interest in the case. Homicide investigators responded to the scene and took lead in the investigation.
The following day, APD announced the person of interest that was detained in the case had been formally charged in connection to the shooting death. Police have identified the suspect as 19-year-old Anthony Lane, of Washington D.C.
Lane was booked on charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is currently being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond. The case remains under investigation by Atlanta Police.
