BROOKHAVEN, GA- A 20-year-old woman was fatally struck and killed while crossing a Brookhaven street in a crosswalk on Tuesday. The driver fled the scene before first responders arrived, but was later apprehended and has been charged in connection to the deadly hit & run.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 21, 2025, officers with the Brookhaven Police Department responded to the intersection of Clairmont Road and Dresden Drive in reference to reports of a person struck by a vehicle.
When officers arrived on the scene they discovered a 20-year-old female and her boyfriend were crossing the roadway in a crosswalk, when a vehicle described as a cement style-dump truck came into the intersection and struck the 20-year-old female. The driver failed to stop or wait for police and left the scene.
The 20-year-old female was pronounced deceased on the scene. Her boyfriend did not sustain any injuries but was transported to a local hospital. Police have not released the identity of the victim. The intersection was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation.
The driver of the dump truck was located a short distance from the site of the hit & run accident. Brookhaven Police located the truck and driver at a nearby worksite unloading materials from the truck. Officers interviewed the driver and took him into custody in relation to the crash. Police have not identified the driver at this time.
The case remains under investigation at this time.
