TENNILLE, GA- A 22-year-old man is behind bars and facing charges in connection to the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old girl in Middle Georgia on Friday evening. Investigators have released limited details as the suspect is facing numerous charges in connection to the incident.
Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a female that had been shot at a residence on Hagan Circle near the town of Tennille on Friday, June 19, 2026, around 9:45 p.m. Deputies raced to the scene of the reported shooting and discovered a female juvenile victim lying inside of a residence.
When deputies arrived the victim was unconscious and not breathing. Emergency personnel arrived and attempted life saving measures on the female victim but she succumb to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The victim has been identified as 15-year-old LuVenya Knight, of Irwinton, Georgia.
Investigators quickly identified a possible shooter and was able to take the suspect into custody. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office confirms they arrested 22-year-old Kemarion Markel Washington of Tenille in connection to the case.
Washington has been booked into the Washington County Jail and is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, felony murder, malice murder, child molestation, and statutory rape.
The investigation is ongoing according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and additional charges may be forthcoming. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting local investigators with the case.
