MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GA- Two men are behind bars in Columbus after investigators with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office seized more than 42 pounds of cocaine on Wednesday with a street value of more that $2 million dollars. A father and son are now charged in connection to the ongoing investigation.
On Thursday morning , Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman held a press conference and announced the seizure of 42 pounds of cocaine with a estimated street value of $2,379,500.00. The seizure was the result of a ongoing narcotics investigation by the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Collaborative Intelligence Group.
Sheriff Countryman would not disclose where in the Columbus community the narcotics were seized, but the Sheriff did announce the arrest of a father and son duo in connection to the case. Investigators have charged Jose Angel Tamez IV and Jose Angel Tamez III in connection to the case. Both men have been charged with trafficking cocaine.
The Sheriff’s Office released limited details about the operation as the investigation is still ongoing and additional charges and arrests may be forthcoming.
The arrest is part of the sheriff’s office commitment to interrupting violent criminal enterprises and seizing dangerous narcotics in the Columbus-Muscogee County community. Between 2021 and the end of 2025 the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office seized more than $318,000,000 in illegal narcotics off the streets.
