SEMINOLE COUNTY, GA- Law enforcement officers find themselves dealing with a variety of suspects on a daily basis, from bank robbers, to wanted individuals, to just the neighborhood drunk. On Thursday morning, officers in one southwest Georgia county got a call to take a different kind of suspect into custody on what could best be described as a unwanted trespass.
Deputies in Seminole County, located in the southwest corner of the state near the state lines of Alabama and Florida received a call around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in reference to a unwanted visitor on a citizens property in the Arrowhead Estates area of the county.
Deputies responded to the scene and located a alligator lurking around the citizens home. Seminole County dispatchers were able to make contact with Wildlife Management to hopefully secure the safe removal of the gator. However, Georgia Wildlife Management’s nearest officer was located more than an hour away on the opposite side of Albany.
Deputies were able to safely trap the alligator and relocate to nearby Spring Creek away from people and dangers.
Alligators are quite common across Georgia primarily in the southern parts of the state, south of the Fall Line. That is a line that extends from Columbus to Macon to Augusta across the state. On occasion Alligators have been reported in areas north of the Fall Line. There was a famous gator in Peachtree City, Georgia just outside of Atlanta named Flat Creek Floyd. The 11-foot gator lived in Peachtree City’s Flat Creek for more than a decade until he was killed in a hit-and-run accident in June of 2025.\
