ATLANTA, GA- Atlanta police are investigating a deadly Tuesday night shooting in the Dixie Hills area of the city. The shooting claimed the life of a first grader and left the child’s mother hospitalized. Family and residents in the area are now looking for answers as to who would have embarked on such a level of violence in a residential neighborhood on the defenseless mother and her daughter.
Atlanta police say officers were called to a home in the 2200 block of Tiger Flowers Drive on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 9:49 p.m. in reference to a person shot. When officers arrived on the scene they located two victims. One victim was described as a 44-year-old adult female, who was alert, conscious and breathing. Police say a juvenile female was also located and transported to an Atlanta area hospital in critical condition. The juvenile victim was later identified as a 7-year-old child and succumb to her injuries.
Atlanta homicide investigators have taken lead in the investigation and are looking for the person or persons responsible for the shooting. Initial investigation indicates the two victims were inside of the home on Tiger Flowers Drive when shots were fired into the home from outside striking the victims.
The juvenile victim has been identified as 7-year-old Zoey Price. She had celebrated her 7th birthday in December and was an active first grader. The adult victim is described as a 44-year-old female and has been identified only as the mother of Zoey. She remains hospitalized in stable condition but is expected to recover from the injuries sustained in the shooting.
Zoey is the youngest homicide victim in the City of Atlanta in 2026. Anyone with any information on this case is asked to call the Atlanta Police Department of Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta. The investigation is ongoing.
