WAYNESBORO, GA- Gunfire erupted as sheriff’s deputies were attempting to disperse a large block party in east Georgia late Saturday night. The shooting left three people with injuries including a deputy sheriff that was grazed by a bullet in the incident.
According to information released by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:34 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a large block party taking place in the 100 block of Virginia Avenue in Waynesboro. The sheriff’s office indicates the event had more than 1000 people in attendance.
Deputies arrived to the event and began to disperse the crowd and shut down the gathering. While the crowds were dispersing several gunshots were fired from unknown subjects. Gunfire struck three people including the Burke County deputy that was working to disperse the crowd.
The sheriff’s office indicates one of the victims was shot once and has been listed in stable condition. A second victim sustained multiple gunshot injuries and is in critical condition. The third victim is a Burke County deputy, who sustained a graze wound.
At this time there has been arrests or suspect information released in connection to the shootings. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is leading the investigation and asks anyone with any information to contact (762)225-6342.
