ATLANTA, GA- The Atlanta Police Department is investigating an Wednesday night shooting at an apartment complex on Campbellton Road in Southwest Atlanta. The investigation that started as a shooting investigation soon yielded a severely injured victim arriving at an Atlanta area hospital.
According to a release from the Atlanta Police Department on September 25, 2025, at 12:26 a.m., officers with APD responded to a report of shots fired at the Appletree Townhomes, 2338 Campbellton Road SW.
When officers arrived on the scene they located several apartments that had visible damage that had been caused by gunfire. Police located one particular unit that had extensive bullet damage. At that same unit police located traces of blood on the floor and walls. Officers swept the apartment and searched an extensive crime scene at the apartments, but were unable to locate a shooting victim.
The investigation by APD was able to locate several shell casings across the extensive crime scene. Investigations were able to locate a witness, who was able to provide police with a description of a possible suspect. Officers on the scene were able to locate and detain a 15-year-old male juvenile suspect. Police have not announced if any charges have been filed against that individual yet.
As officers worked the crime scene on Campbellton Road, officers were alerted to a gunshot victim arriving at Grady Memorial Hospital. Police say a male victim showed up to the hospitals suffering from four gunshot wounds to the abdomen. The victim is being treated at a local hospital and at last update was listed in critical condition.
The case remains under investigation by Atlanta Police.
