SAVANNAH, GA- Police in Savannah have had a busy week after rounding up three violent suspects in a matter of days. Two of the suspects have been connected to recent homicides and the other is accused leaving a person seriously injured after shooting last week.
The first suspect was arrested on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Savannah officers arrested 54-year-old Charles Anthony Barnes. Police say Barnes is the suspect in a homicide that occurred on September 20, 2025, on Rogers Street in Savannah.
On September 20, Savannah officers responded to the 1200 block of Rogers Street around 9:20 p.m. after the ShotSpotter system detected shots being fired in the area. Responding officers arrived on the scene and located 26-year-old Frederick Hampton Jr., suffering from a gunshot wound. Lifesaving measures were performed on the scene, but Hampton succumb to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Investigators began working the homicide and were able to identify Barnes as a suspect. He was taken into custody on October 8, 2025, and has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a gun during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

A day after the arrest of Barnes, Savannah police began investigating a triple shooting that claimed the life of one man. On Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 7:20 p.m., Savannah officers responded to the 100 block of Eisenhower Drive after hearing gunshots in the area.
Upon arrival officers discovered three victims suffering from gunshot injuries. Medical aid was rendered to the three adult victims on the scene. Two of the victims were transported to Memorial Health University Hospital for treatment. The third victims succumb to his injuries on the scene and was pronounced deceased.
Shortly after the shooting, Savannah Police had a suspect in custody in connection to the incident. Police arrested and charged 26-year-old Marlon Harris in connection to the death. Harris has been booked on charges of murder and aggravated assault in the case.

On October 9, 2025, Savannah police were also able to nab an 18-year-old suspect in connection to a shooting that took place on September 27, 2025, that left one person injured.
On September 20, 2025, officers responded to the 20 block of Darling Street at 1:50 p.m. in reference to a firearm being discharged. On the scene police did not locate a victim, but found an adult male had been injured in the area and he self transported to Memorial Health University Hospital for treatment of a gunshot injury to his foot. The victims injuries are non-life threatening.
On Thursday, October 9, Savannah Police and the United States Marshals Service took 18-year-old Messiah Holmes into custody in connection to the shooting. Holmes is facing several charges including; armed robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm in committing a crime, and possession of marijuana.
